Jo Weaver
Jo was appointed to the Board in 2024. She lives in Birmingham and brings more than 30 years’ public sector justice experience to her Trustee role.
Jo has worked extensively in the court and tribunal system, including the civil and family courts, and the criminal courts. While Head of Operations at the Office of the Public Guardian, she led the service providing support for those planning for a future where they might lack mental capacity because, for example, they had developed dementia or had a serious brain injury or illness. Jo has collaborated with Justice sector management teams on issues including strategic management information, decision-making, performance management, compliance, and corporate governance. In 2019/20, Jo supported her department’s planning for the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union (EU).
Jo was already very familiar with the aims of 11:11 Prison Support through her mentoring of offenders and former offenders, something she has been doing since 2017. In that time, she’s seen first-hand the challenges some face as they start their rehabilitation journey. She has supported several women upon their release from prison, including navigating issues related to housing, healthcare, employment, confidence, and personal safety.
